In November 2017, NextBlock Global was forced to pull back on its attempt to take the company public after it falsely named four significant blockchain figures as advisors in an investor document.
Tapscott is the co-author, with father Don, of 'Blockchain Revolution'. The pair also founded Toronto-based think tank The Blockchain Research Institute.
Prior to writing 'Blockchain Revolution', Tapscott worked for seven years in Canadian and U.S. Capital Markets. He was a senior executive at Canaccord Genuity, Canada’s largest independent investment bank, and founded the firm’s blockchain practice in 2014.
Tapscott is an advisory board member for a number of companies, including nuco, YouBase and Paycase. He is also a co-founder of CAMH Engage, a young leadership council at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Alex Tapscott served as a research fellow for the Global Solutions Network (GSN) program at the Martin Prosperity Institute at the Rotman School of Management in Toronto. In 2014, he published the white paper ‘A Bitcoin Governance Network’. He is a graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts and is a CFA charterholder.
